Beyond.pl in the coalition to build the Baltic AI GigaFactory

The Baltic AI GigaFactory is a project submitted to the European Commission aimed at building an artificial intelligence gigafactory to accelerate AI development in the region. It is intended to provide world-class computing infrastructure for researchers, entrepreneurs, industry, and EU citizens, funded through the InvestAI program. Poland is leading the consortium, which also includes Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, as well as business representatives, research institutes, and universities from these countries.

One of the key objectives of the project is to establish an advanced IT ecosystem with high computational power, headquartered in Poland. This will ensure high performance, sustainability, low latency, and a significant increase in the adoption of AI technologies across the region. An important component of the initiative is the development of Polish and Baltic language models (such as PLLuM and Bielik) and the integration of generative AI with administrative tools and processes.

The Baltic AI GigaFactory will connect national AI centres in Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius, Krakow, Poznan, Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Warsaw, creating a scalable innovation ecosystem while maintaining sovereignty, regulatory compliance, and control over data and intellectual property. The establishment of the Baltic AI GigaFactory is expected to enable the scaling of innovation within the EU and support Europe’s active participation in the global technology race.

The project has attracted a wide range of regional business leaders, including Beyond.pl, Allegro, Cloudferro, Greenergy Data Centers, Orange Polska S.A., UAB, Wirtualna Polska, as well as research institutions such as Cyfronet, PSNC, IDEAS Research Institute, NASK PIB, Riga Technical University, Vilnius University, University of Latvia, and Tartu University, along with the Artificial Intelligence Association (MILA) and LIKTA – Information & Communications Technology Association.
